The Montreal Canadiens are reportedly highly interested in trading for arguably the perfect trade target for the Maple Leafs before the Leafs can get to him.
As Brad Treliving looks to continue shuffling his forward group by finding new homes for David Kampf and Calle Jarnkrok while also hunting down a top-six forward, he is reportedly in stiff competition should he look at landing a once brief, former Leafs forward.Having minimal assets that they are willing to trade, the Leafs are in tough to acquire a top-six forward and things may have gotten tougher with the latest report surrounding Jared McCann of the Seattle Kraken.
Habs Have Shown Interest in Kraken’s Jared McCann
It’s not everyday a 40-goal scorer with multiple years remaining at a reasonable, $5M cap hit become available, and when they do, they garner league-wide interest. McCann however, does have some say in where he ends up with a 10-team no-trade list, but the very briefly former Maple Leafs forward could be on the move ahead of training camp which begins in a months time.McCann wouldn’t replace Mitch Marner or his production, but the 29-year-old would certainly supply a healthy amount of secondary offense for the Leafs and provide them with a versatile forward that can play the wing, down the middle and in all situations.
