ST. CLOUD — Nate Schmidt spent part of his day with the NHL’s Stanley Cup on the same rink he starred on while playing for St. Cloud Cathedral High School.
Schmidt, a 2010
graduate, won the Stanley Cup with the Florida Panthers on June 17, 2025. The Panthers beat Edmonton 3-2 to win the Stanley Cup Finals. Schmidt
became the first St. Cloud native
to be part of a Stanley Cup winning team.

A ceremony was held on Monday, Aug. 25, 2025, at Dave Torrey Arena (inside the Municipal Athletic Complex) in honor of Schmidt, who proudly hoisted the Stanley Cup when he entered the building.
Schmidt’s family members and fans were able to take pictures with the trophy the rest of the afternoon.
