OGDENSBURG — The Ogdensburg Free Academy hockey team will be relocated for the 2025-26 season due to construction in the Edgar A. Newell, II Memorial Golden Dome.
This work will include the sealing of the exterior roof, replacement of interior roof insulation, installation of a new dehumidification system, renovation of locker rooms, and the addition of handicapped-accessible restrooms. These enhancements are essential to preserving the long-term viability of the Dome and to providing a safer, more accommodating environment for all who use it.
While the Dome is closed for renovations, the OFA hockey team will use Lockwood Arena for both practices and games.
“We are grateful to our community for their patience and support as we make these critical improvements to one of Ogdensburg’s most treasured facilities,” said Superintendent of Schools Kevin Kendall. “These upgrades will provide long-term benefits for both our student-athletes and the community. While we recognize that this closure presents a temporary challenge, we are fully committed to ensuring our hockey program has the resources and support it needs to thrive during this transition.”
“We’d like to thank the City of Ogdensburg for their cooperation and collaboration in making adjustments to support our student-athletes with a home while renovations continue in the Dome,” said Kevin Kendall.
