The Vancouver Canucks have risen in updated 2025 prospect pool rankings from The Athletic thanks to some recent draft decisions from General Manager Patrik Allvin.
Last summer, The Athletic’s Corey Pronman gave the Vancouver Canucks’ prospect pool the low ranking of 28th in the National Hockey League, but flash forward 12 months and those picks made two months ago have given the organization a pretty big boost.

Heading into a draft year, it takes an army to help identify potential talent for the organization to select, from the many amateur scouts the Canucks have, the Director of Scouting and even Patrik Allvin, who will occasionally go to view these players in-person to get a better idea of who they are and what they would bring to the club.
Ultimately, it comes do to Patrik Allvin on who the club selects and since his first draft day in 2022, he’s picked a handful of players that are certainly going to make a mark on this organization both now and in the future, including Tom Willander, Jonathan Lekkerimaki, Elias Pettersson, Sawyer Mynio, among others.
This week, Corey Pronman of The Athletic ranked the Vancouver Canucks’ prospect pool 22nd in the National Hockey League, a jump of six spots when compared to 2024 and also gave their 2025 Draft a B- rating.
“Vancouver has a decent system, led by its recent first-round picks Braeden Cootes, Tom Willander and Jonathan Lekkerimäki, who are all good players. It isn’t the deepest system, though, in part due to how light the Canucks have been on picks in some of the last five years.
2025 NHL Draft grade: B-” Pronman said.
Pronman has 2025 first round pick Braeden Cootes as the team’s top prospect heading into the new season, followed by Tom Willander, Jonathan Lekkerimaki, Aatu Raty, Elias Pettersson and Sawyer Mynio.
It’s safe to say that the Vancouver Canucks made the right decision to hire Patrik Allvin nearly three-and-a-half years ago and fans can’t wait to see how some of their top prospects pan out in the National Hockey League.
