Guy and Jane Gaudreau, the parents of late hockey brothers Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, were reportedly hospitalized after learning of their sons’ deaths.

Johnny, 31, and Matthew, 29, were killed by a suspected drunk driver while riding their bikes through Oldmans Township, New Jersey, in August 2024. According to new reporting by The Athletic, Jane was rushed to the hospital after falling into what the family described as a “catatonic-like state.” Guy, the brothers’ father, was also hospitalized and evaluated for an “elevated heart rate and blood pressure.”

The grieving parents were each hospitalized for two nights before being discharged, the outlet reported.

Johnny and Matthew were in their hometown at the time of the tragedy for their sister’s wedding.

Ahead of the one-year anniversary of their death, their widows, Meredith and Madeline Gaudreau, opened up about their final moments with their husbands.

“He kissed all of us goodbye — just in the driveway at his parents’ house,” Meredith, Johnny’s wife, told ABC News earlier this month. “And that was the last time I saw him.”

“Our kids didn’t deserve this. John and Matty didn’t even deserve that, especially the way it happened. It keeps me up at night,” she added.

Meredith, who was pregnant with the couple’s third child at the time of his death, gave birth to son Carter Michael Gaudreau in April.

Madeline, who was pregnant with her and Matthew’s first child at the time, recalled a touching moment from the brothers’ funeral. “Tripp was kicking a lot, so I just held Matt’s hand on my belly for Tripp,” she said. “I didn’t wanna say goodbye to either of them because I know I’ll see them again one day.”

She would later give birth to their son, Tripp, that December.
