A new asking price has been revealed for potential Vancouver Canucks trade target Mason McTavish, who remains an RFA with a few weeks to go until training camp opens. The Vancouver Canucks’ search for a second line center search for a second line centerman is almost guaranteed to carry into September at this point and while the organization is reportedly more than comfortable standing pat with their current roster, there’s no doubt Patrik Allvin would prefer to bring someone in before they begin training camp in Penticton.Among the names that the Vancouver Canucks have been linked to this summer is Mason McTavish, a 22-year-old RFA centerman from the Anaheim Ducks who has some bite to his game and can certainly produce offensively, with 15+ goals in each of his first three NHL seasons, including 22 this past year.

Understandably, the asking price for someone like Mason McTavish won’t be cheap nor is it a guarantee that the Anaheim Ducks move him, the Canucks know that, as does every team around the National Hockey League, but some new information has come to light when it comes to what it could take to pry him from Southern California.

New asking price revealed for Anaheim Ducks RFA forward Mason McTavish

Earlier this month, David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period was a guest on Campbell vs Gallo on TSN 690 radio in Montreal where he was asked what it would take for a team like the Canadiens, who are also interested in McTavish, to land the RFA forward.

According to Pagnotta, the Canadiens’ young asset pool would certainly make the Anaheim Ducks at least consider the possibility of trading Mason McTavish in the weeks ahead.

“Based on a young asset pool perspective…yeah the Canadiens have a ton of that; I’m sure there’s enough there…that would entice the Ducks to at least take a look.” Pagnotta said.

Unfortunately for the Vancouver Canucks, they don’t have nearly as deep of a prospect pool as the Montreal Canadiens do, but they do have some high-end pieces that they could dangle in a trade offer for Mason McTavish, including defenseman Tom Willander.Aside from Tristan Luneau, the Anaheim Ducks don’t have a ton of quality in their prospect pool on the right side of their blue line, which would make a piece like Tom Willander very enticing to them, but it’ll likely cost quite a bit more than just the Swedish defenseman to bring Mason McTavish to Vancouver.
