EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — On Monday morning, the Los Angeles Kings and General Manager Rob Blake mutually agreed to go different directions.
This comes only five days after the Kings were eliminated for a fourth straight year in the first round by the Edmonton Oilers.
President Luc Robitaille made a quick comment about Blake.
“On behalf of the entire organization, I would like to thank [Blake] for his dedication to the LA Kings and the passion he brought to his role. Reaching this understanding wasn’t easy and I appreciate [Blake’s] partnership in always working toward what is best for the Kings,” Robitaille said. “[Blake] deserves a great deal of credit and respect for elevating us to where we are today. He has been an important part of the Kings and will always be appreciated for what he has meant to this franchise.”
Blake finished his tenure as the Kings’ General Manager with a 309-238-71 record and five Stanley Cup Playoff appearances over eight years.
The Kings said that their search for a replacement will begin immediately.
