Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin says that he fully believes in forward Elias Pettersson‘s ability to bounce back after a difficult 2024-25 campaign.A difficult 2024-25 campaign filled with drama and a late-season injury has fueled Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson to put in the hard work this summer as he looks to be a better player and leader for his team this coming season.Earlier this summer, Pettersson said he is out for revenge and wants to prove to everyone that last season was a fluke and he will be able to bounce back and be an important player for the Vancouver Canucks once again.

“I haven’t thought about it, but for myself it’s revenge. I’m not happy with last season. I’m trying to lead by example. But I know that I can become a better leader, in that aspect. I’m trying my best, but also trying to get better.” Pettersson said.

While some fans still aren’t buying the words or even videos of Pettersson putting in the work this offseason, Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin is and is standing behind his player entering the 2025-26 season.

Vancouver Canucks GM Patrik Allvin believes in Elias Pettersson’s ability to bounce back

During a recent interview with NHL.com, Patrik Allvin said that he’s confident Elias Pettersson will return to Vancouver and show what he’s truly capable of, adding that he’s excited for the 26-year-old.

“The conversation, even back to our exit meetings, we turned the page and are moving forward and I think that’s what excites Elias, too. I’m very confident that he’s going to come back to show what he’s capable of. I know the coaching staff had several conversations with the leadership group, and Elias being part of the leadership group as well, so I’m excited to see him back here for a fresh start.” Allvin said.

If the Vancouver Canucks are going to have any success this year, they’re going to need Elias Pettersson to play at an elevated level when compared to last season, not necessarily at a 100-point pace, but if he can stay around a point-per-game, that would go a long way in helping his club stay in the hunt for a playoff spot in March & April.

It’s only a matter of time before Vancouver Canucks fans find out if that hard work in the offseason will pay off, with the club opening up training camp on September 18th in Penticton, followed by their first preseason game three days later.
