We’re almost a month away from the start of the 2026 NHL regular season, and the Dallas Stars should be close to fully healthy by game one. Barring any injuries in the upcoming preseason, the Stars are likely to be entering opening night with a fully loaded roster for new (and old) head coach Glen Gulutzan to work with.

Many teams such as the Florida Panthers with Matthew Tkachuk adjust to not having a full lineup come game one in October. As long as nobody gets injured this upcoming preseason, the Stars will have a fully loaded roster on Thursday October 9th in Winnipeg.

Nils is ready

Looking to play his first full NHL season in what will be his fourth season in Dallas, Nils Lundkvist is hoping for better fortunes in 2025-2026. No injury heading into October, plus working with a new coach could just be the recipe Lundkvist needs to bolster his game. As well as silence his critics who dub him as a liability.

At only 25 years of age, it’s far from too late for Lundkvist to be able to show his best in Dallas. Nils doesn’t want to have his legacy, or reputation as a Star to be all about not getting along with former coach Pete DeBoer or being injury prone. Expecting the best from Lundkvist this year is what he, and everybody else wants.

Miro and Robo

Both Jason Robertson, and Miro Heiskanen had late season injuries this past 2025 season. They both missed playoff time before making their returns during the dance. Heading into this upcoming season there are no concerns for two of their best players on the team.

There is speculation that Robertson might be on his way out of Dallas sometime next year. Miro isn’t going anywhere. Whatever the future holds for Robertson he’s still a Star. Both he, and Heiskanen should be good to go.

Hintz feeling good

After getting his foot broken by Darnell Nurse in the WCF vs the Edmonton Oilers, Roope Hintz had a massage that is music to Stars’ fans ears. Let’s not forget that Hintz, even with a broken foot, was able to back check to prevent Connor McDavid from scoring a goal in this past seasons WCF.

Stars fans would like to see Hintz increase his scoring production. While he was top four in goals and points last season, it’s the playoffs where the Stars would like to see more production. Somebody who can skate that fast with his size, Hintz has the potential to be a game breaker after 82 games. Where the games become more and more of a grind, and scoring right in front of a goalie is where you get your best chances.

Seguin likely to be ready

Tyler Seguin is the biggest question mark on the team. Like everybody else previously mentioned, Seguin is likely sore after last season, but as of now nobody is saying why Seguin won’t be available on opening night. Stars are hoping to see a lot more of Seguin this year, and the odds are looking good for that.

While he’s not going to be the goal scorer he once was, he’s still a vet who plays like a jack of all trades. Seguin is among the league’s best at winning faceoffs, and has a Stanley Cup to his name. He also plays a 200 foot game, plays in all situations from five on five to power plays and killing penalties, and he can score meaningful games in the playoffs.
