Game 1 started like a dream for the Maple Leafs, as William Nylander scored his fourth goal of the playoffs just 33 seconds into the game.
Just over 12 minutes later, Nylander would find the back of the net again, giving the Leafs a lead they would not relinquish. Nylander added an assist on Morgan Rielly’s goal, with Chris Taney and Matthew Knies adding goals of their own, resulting in a 5-4 victory.
Despite failing to secure a victory, the Panthers have a lot to be positive about heading into Game 2. They weathered the inevitable home ice storm, falling behind 4-1, but fought back with two early third-period goals to bring the game back to 4-3.
They were also called for five penalties, yet did not allow a single goal. Brad Marchand and Carter Verhaeghe both had two assists in the game.
This is a great NHL Playoff matchup that will not disappoint; make sure to tune in and catch all the action.
