With training camp just around the corner, we are previewing each player on the LA Kings roster. Up next: Koehn Ziemmer!

Koehn Ziemmer

Birthdate: December 8, 2004

Birthplace: Mayerthorpe, Alberta

Height: 6’1

Weight: 201 lbs

Position: Right wing

Shoots: Right

Draft: 3rd round, 78th overall, 2023 NHL Entry Draft

2024-25 season

Koehn Ziemmer was eligible to play in the AHL last year, but the Kings opted to loan him back to the WHL for his final junior season. After missing 0f 2023-24 with an ankle injury and the need to work on his skating, it made sense for him to get back to speed in the WHL. In his final season with the Prince George Cougars, Ziemmer led the team in goals with 37 and posted 71 points in 61 games.

Known for his goal-scoring prowess, Ziemmer was also fifth on the team in assists (34) and was often used as a second-line centerman, winning 52.1% of his faceoffs. Ziemmer also played in all seven of Prince George’s playoff games and recorded three goals and four assists for seven points.

He also achieved personal accolades on two occasions during the regular season. He captured the Player of the Week award in November (11/4-11/10) and became Prince George’s all-time goal-scoring leader in February.

Soon after Prince George’s season concluded, Ziemmer would be assigned to the AHL and played three regular-season games for the Ontario Reign, where he went scoreless. He didn’t play in both of the Reign’s playoff games.

2025-26 outlook

Ziemmer is another prospect making his way to the professional ranks by joining the Reign. He is the Kings’ second-best forward prospect in the system behind Liam Greentree and is an interesting prospect. He’s got a big body frame with a wicked release and shot deception, and isn’t afraid to play with bite. His skating will need to improve, which has been documented since the Kings drafted him two years ago.

Although he played center and wing for Prince George, I believe he’ll play on the wing and be developed as one, with his game better suited for that position. Ziemmer, a right-handed shot, can be an option from the left circle or down low in front of the net on the power play as he was in Prince George, and as a second or third line winger at 5v5 for new head coach Andrew Lord.
