Two and a half weeks ago, Xfinity Mobile Arena officially became the new name for the home of the Flyers and Sixers.
And now the signs show it.
The building unveiled its fresh look Tuesday. Flyers players Sean Couturier and Travis Sanheim were on hand, along with Sixers players Jared McCain and VJ Edgecombe. Flyers mascot Gritty and Sixers mascot Franklin, of course, were there, too.
“It looks good, sounds good,” Couturier said of the new name. “It’s exciting with all the new features they seem to be putting in the rink. It should be fun for the fans and everyone.”
Couturier, the Flyers’ captain, is the city’s longest-tenured athlete. He has been a Flyer since October 2011.
“It almost feels like it’s not the same rink that it was 14, 15 years ago when I first came in, so it’s fun to see,” Couturier said. “They’re putting money into the rink, into the fans, the locker rooms and the sports teams. It’s a fun city to be a part of and especially when you see ownerships and the arena managers invest in ourselves.”
It was announced in May that the naming rights would be changing from Wells Fargo Center to Xfinity Mobile Arena. The building, which also hosts various other sporting events and concerts, had been named Wells Fargo Center since 2010. The naming rights expired after the 2024-25 seasons.
The new naming rights deal runs through the 2030-31 seasons.
The Flyers’ 2025-26 home opener is Oct. 13 and the Sixers’ is Oct. 25.
