For several weeks, there have been rumors that young forward Owen Beck might possibly be available for a trade by the Canadiens.

Obviously, Kent Hughes isn’t absolutely determined to trade him, but he would be willing to include him in the right deal (according to these rumors).

Well, this has now apparently been confirmed by the excellent Marco D’Amico.

Kent Hughes Offered Owen Beck in the Trade for Noah Dobson

Recently asked about Beck by a fan, the excellent Marco D’Amico revealed this:

“They still like him, but he was one of the players offered in the Dobson discussions.

It could go either way depending on his play.”

So don’t be surprised if Beck is eventually involved in a trade, possibly to acquire an already established second-line NHL center.

Heineman, now 23 years old, is a 6’2″, 198-pound winger who was a second-round pick by the Florida Panthers in 2020 (43rd overall).

Last season with the Montreal Canadiens, he recorded 18 points in 62 games, including ten goals.

Do you think the Islanders made the right choice by picking Heineman over Beck?

Both had similar production in their first AHL season (with the Laval Rocket), but so far, the transition to the NHL seems to be easier for Heineman.
