Maine hockey star Carter Amico is about to begin his freshman season at Boston University. The Westbrook native has had a very busy summer which began with the call of a lifetime!
Back in late June, the Philadelphia Flyers selecting the 6′ 6″ tough, speedy defenseman early in round two!
“It means a lot to be drafted there, definitely gonna have to step up my physical game,” Amico said. “Love the city, and I can’t wait.”
But first, Carter is set to begin his freshman season playing for Hockey East perennial power Boston University!
“Yeah, I’m super excited. Boston is always somewhere I like being around, outside of hockey,” Amico went on. “And now that I can play hockey there, it’s a dream come true and especially being close to home, two hours up 95 in Maine, and it’s really exciting to know that family can come watch me play as well.”
But the road to Comm. Ave and the NHL wasn’t an easy one for Carter. Last November, he underwent his second surgery on his right knee. Thankfully, Carter’s feeling great and should be ready to go for the Terriers October 4th opener against Long Island University!
“Feel great, super good to be back, especially after eight months off the ice,” Amico said. “It was definitely challenging, you know, I thought it taught me more about not taking things for granted and, you know, next time I’m out here, it’s a 100% because anytime it can be taken away from you.”
