Four first-round picks will be part of the Detroit Red Wings squad being sent to Frisco, Texas, later this month for rookie games against the top prospects of the Dallas Stars.

They include left-wing Carter Bear, the player Detroit chose 13th overall in the 2025 NHL entry draft. The other first-rounders participating include right-winger Michael Brandsegg-Nygard (15th overall, 2024), defenseman Axel Sandin Pellikka (17th, 2023), and center Nate Danielson (ninth, 2023).

It all starts next weekend!

Those players are among 13 on the 24-player roster who are Red Wings draft picks. Other participants include left-winger Kevin Bicker (147th, 2023). He was named the top rookie in Germany’s DEL, playing for Löwen Frankfurt. Goalie Rudy Guimond (169th, 2023) helped backstop the Moncton Wildcats to a QMJHL title and a Memorial Cup appearance.

Players from the 2025 draft who will be suiting up include goalie Michal Pradel (75th), defenseman Will Murphy (172nd), and center Grayden Robertson-Palmer (204th). There’s also Sault Ste. Marie goalie Landon Miller, taken 126th overall in the 2024 draft.

Griffins Well Represented Among Red Wings Prospects

A trio of draftees who skated with the AHL Grand Rapids Griffins last season are also part of the team. They include defenseman Shai Buium (36th, 2021), and centers Emmitt Finnie (201st, 2023), and Ondrej Becher (80th, 2024). Three free-agent signees who suited up for the Griffins last season will be playing. That group includes forwards Jakub Rychlovsky, Carson Bantle, and Alexandre Doucet. Jacob Truscott, a defenseman from the Michigan Wolverines who signed an AHL contract with Grand Rapids, is also participating.

The Red Wings and Stars will play two games, with the two teams facing off on Saturday, September 13 at PM ET, and again on Sunday, September 14 at 7 PM ET. Both games will be streamed live on DetroitRedWings.com and the Detroit Red Wings app.
