Pat Maroon has officially retired from the NHL, but now one of the league’s biggest characters has returned for a new role with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The NHL has had some characters over the years, but no one quite captured the love in recent times like the ‘Big Rig’, Pat Maroon, who had plenty of success throughout his career with Anaheim, Edmonton, New Jersey, St. Louis, Tampa Bay, Minnesota, Boston and Chicago.

The most team success came with the Lightning when he was a key part of their back-to-back Stanley Cup’s early in the 2020’s, and after retiring, it’s no surprise that’s the organization he wanted to be a part of.

Fan-Favorite Enforcer Takes on Off-Ice Role with Tampa Bay Lightning

Now, according to a recent report from Diandra Loux, the former enforcer has taken on a role with the Lightning as an Alumni Relations Brand Ambassador, as he will officially represent the organization at many different events.

Not only that, but Maroon will take part in the new television broadcast with Scripps Sports, meaning he will be a major piece of the fan experience for the Lightning this upcoming season.

Maroon to Represent Bolts at Events and on New Scripps Sports Broadcast

In the role, Maroon will represent the organization at events throughout the year whether that be community, youth hockey, Bolt for Life, suite holder or partner appearances throughout the season.

Maroon played in just four seasons for Tampa Bay, but clearly the organization had a major effect on him, and now, given his influence, he’ll have a major effect on how fans, partners and young hockey players will enjoy and interact with the Lightning moving forward.
