MARQUETTE, Mich. (WBUP/WJMN) – Tickets are still available for the upcoming Detroit Red Wings Alumni vs. Marquette’s Yoopers United hockey game, presented by the United Way.
The game will feature some recognizable names who spent time with the Detroit Red Wings organization, taking on a group of talented Yooper hockey players eager to prove themselves against hockey legends.
On Thursday night, Yoopers United faced off against the NMU Club Hockey Team as part of their preparation. For many of the players, the opportunity to share the ice with former Red Wings is a dream come true.
“This is kind of like a lifelong fulfillment,” said Yoopers United player Brian Kulbieda. “To be able to actually get on the ice with some ex-red wing players, Mickey Redmond, some of the other guys that it’s it’s really exciting. I Grew up my whole life here in Michigan watching the Red wings and going to Joe Louis Arena and watching hockey games there. So, it’s so exciting for me and all the rest of the guys to just be on the ice with the Red Wing alumni players and, for a great cause for the United Way.”
“Yeah, it’s a lot of fun,” said Yoopers United player Mason Aldrich. “You know, it’s not every day you get to play against these kind of guys. I’m a little younger, so having these like, older guys play, it’s very cool to meet them firsthand and just skate with them.”
All proceeds raised during the game will go towards benefiting United Way of Marquette County’s Community Investment Fund.
The game is set for September 13th at 6pm inside the Berry Events Center. For ticket information CLICK HERE.
