A trade proposal shared this week would see the Vancouver Canucks land another top-four blueliner, who has spent the past six seasons with the San Jose Sharks.

In less than two weeks, the Vancouver Canucks will begin training camp and it’s an exciting time for the organization, with some new faces on and off the ice and the belief that if everything goes well – bounce backs from key players & avoiding injury issues – that they can return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.Taking a look at the team’s depth at every position, there’s no question that on defense and in between the pipes are their two biggest strengths as we inch closer to the start of the NHL’s 2025-26 season.

However, while there may not be an opening on the blue line right now, with three players competing for one spot on the third pairing, an interesting trade proposal has been suggested that would see Patrik Allvin acquire someone who can play in the top-four.

Trade proposal emerges sending top-four defenseman to the Vancouver Canucks

Now, this goes without saying, but the Vancouver Canucks don’t need to add another blueliner to their roster at this time, but as the season rolls along, if they’re in a playoff position by the deadline, an upgrade in the top-four can’t be ruled out.

Michael DeRosa of Heavy.com recently proposed a trade that would see the Vancouver Canucks acquire 26-year-old defenseman Mario Ferraro from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for defensive prospect Sawyer Mynio, a 2026 second-round pick and a 2028 third-round pick.”One specific area where the Canucks could look to improve is their defensive group. The San Jose Sharks have an interesting trade target to consider in Mario Ferraro. The left-shot defenseman has been the subject of trade rumors for quite some time, and they have only been picking up.

Canucks Get:

– Mario Ferraro

Sharks Get:

– 2026 Second-Round Pick
– 2028 Third-Round Pick
– Sawyer Mynio” DeRosa shared.

The Toronto, Ontario native has seen his name in the rumor mill for quite some time now, with some believing he was going to be dealt ahead of the deadline back in early March, but nothing ended up materializing.

Ferraro has spent his entire six-year career with the San Jose Sharks and even managed to set a new high in goals last season (5) and so far, has skated in 408 games for the club, registering 91 points (17 goals, 74 assists), 181 penalty minutes and is a minus-120.

If the Sharks have another poor season, which many expect to be the case, his name will almost certainly pop up on trade bait boards leading up to the deadline and perhaps later in the season, if they’re in need of a blueliner, Patrik Allvin could call up San Jose GM Mike Grier to see what it would take to land Mario Ferraro.
