COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — The sellout Stadium Series crowd of 94,751 in Ohio Stadium for the March 1 game between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Detroit Red Wings helped the NHL break its all-time regular season attendance record this year, the league announced Friday.
Total attendance for the 2024-25 regular season reached 23,014,458 fans, topping the 23-million mark for the first time in its 108-year history and eclipsing the previous record of 22,873,142 set just last season. Overall, NHL arenas operated at an 96.9% of capacity across 1,312 games.
The Montreal Canadiens led all teams in attendance, drawing sellout crowds of 21,105 to Bell Centre for each of their 41 home games, totaling 865,305 fans. No other team individual attendance figures were immediately available.
The Blue Jackets concluded their season Thursday night with a 6-1 defeat of the New York Islanders, finishing with a record of 40-33-9, just two points behind Montreal for the second and final wild-card spot.
