Former NHL goalie Carter Hart could be making his way back to the league. Hart has been out of the league since partway through the 2023-24 season, following some legal troubles he had.

Multiple members of the 2018 Canadian junior hockey team were charged with sexual assault charges, but each was acquitted last month. This has now opened the door for Hart to make a comeback, but the league still hasn’t cleared him.

As teams wait for the decision on Hart to come down from the league, it seems that the veteran goalie could land with one of his former teams. The Philadelphia Flyers have reportedly shown interest in landing the goalie.

Flyers Interested in Carter Hart Reunion

NHL insider David Pagnotta reported the interest from the Flyers in Hart.

“There are several teams, including the Philadelphia Flyers, interested in goaltender Carter Hart, but they continue to wait on the NHL’s decision to determine when he is eligible to play,” Pagnotta said.

Before leaving the NHL, Hart established himself as a very reliable No. 1 goalie for the Flyers. Hart posted a 2.80 goals against average and a .906 save percentage during his shortened 2023-24 season.

Over his career, Hart has posted a 2.94 goals against average and a .906 save percentage in 227 games. If he does make his return, whichever team signs him could be getting a steal.

The Edmonton Oilers have also been rumored to have interest in Hart, but all of his options remain up in the air. Everything will be determined for Hart when the league decides to clear him to return or not.
