Ryane Clowe has once again moved from the San Jose Sharks to the New York Rangers — this time in the front office.

The native of Fermeuse, N.L., resigned his position as the assistant general manager of the Sharks on Sunday, before being appointed to the same position with the Rangers on Monday.

In a statement issued by the Sharks, Clowe said he made the decision to leave San Jose “in the best interest of my family.”

Clowe spent last season with the Sharks front office, after spending time as a special advisor for the New York Rangers from 2021 to 2024.

In his playing career, Clowe played eight seasons for the Sharks before being traded to the Rangers in 2012-13.

Clowe played 491 National Hockey League games in total, compiling 112 goals and 197 assists for 309 points before his career was cut short due to concussions.

He’s considered one of the most successful athletes to come from Newfoundland and Labrador, and was inducted to the province’s hockey hall of fame in 2018.

Clowe briefly spent time as the coach of the ECHL’s Newfoundland Growlers in 2018-19, before being replaced due to continuing issues with post-concussion syndrome.
