Former Maple Leafs star Mitch Marner is taking part in the NHL’s media day in Vegas, but continues to hurt his relationship with fans with his latest decision.

After his tenure with the Maple Leafs came to an end on July 1st, things were relatively quiet with regard to Mitch Marner. Aside from a video or two training and repping Golden Knights’ gear, he remained out of the limelight with his wife and newborn son.

As Marner alluded to in his last media appearance, one fan leaking his home address forced him to hire security following the Leafs’ second round exit and directly led to his decision to move on.

As the league always does a few weeks before training camp, they gather a handful of players to shoot promotional videos and ads for the upcoming season and to no one’s surprise, Marner was one of the players to participate, alongside his former teammate Matthew Knies.

Many speculate that it is due to the discourse that started following his comments about his exit from the Leafs and that he doesn’t want to have to comment on what he and his agent said.

While Marner chose to go to Vegas for a quieter public life, he isn’t exactly starting his tenure in the city in a good way, declining to speak to reporters and opening up to the local fan base.
