San Jose Sharks top prospect Michael Misa finally signed his entry-level contract on Wednesday.
The 2025 NHL Draft’s No. 2 overall pick has aspirations of making the NHL this season. During development camp, Misa told reporters that his goal was the same. Now with the contract officially signed, he has a chance to reach his goals.
Misa told reporters on Wednesday that he isn’t sure why it took this long to sign with the Sharks, but he was never worried.
“Just the way it worked out. [I’m] super happy to be here. I’m excited to get started,” Misa said.

Misa and other San Jose Sharks prospects are participating in a short rookie camp before heading down to Irvine, CA, for the Golden State Rookie Face-Off.
Despite the contract being signed close to the start of Sharks training camp, Misa never considered playing in the NCAA. Because Misa signed his ELC, he is no longer eligible to play at the collegiate level.
“No. It was always NHL signing and trying to make the team. That was my goal. So happy, it’s a done deal.”
Misa has been skating in San Jose already
Misa has been in the area for two weeks already and has been staying with Sharks forward Tyler Toffoli.

Toffoli carries on the tradition of Sharks young stars living with NHL veterans, current or active.
“He’s great, he’s obviously a leader on this team, and for me, just looking up to him, what he’s done throughout his career, and asking him for advice. Being able to stay with him for a couple of weeks has been great. Just learning and always talking to him about stuff.”
Macklin Celebrini lived with Joe Thornton, and Will Smith lived with Patrick Marleau. According to Sheng Peng, the two young stars are living with them again.
