Welcome back to the PhHN Daily! Today feels like a special one, because for the first time in a little while, I can say that hockey is truly back.

But, before we get into hockey, I just wanted to share a video. I do this every year on September 11th, whether that be in group chats, social media, and now, for the first time, I get to share it on this website. September 11th is a day of remembrance. We should never forget those who tragically lost their lives on September 11th, 2001, and those who gave their lives for others. Their families should remain in our prayers.

The story of Welles Crowther, better known as “The Man in the Red Bandana”, is a story that still moves me to this day. Crowther traded his own life to save many more, taking trips up and down the World Trade Center to help guide people to safety.

The SC Featured, “The Man in the Red Bandana”, is what inspired me to want to become a sports writer. I never knew how much I could be moved by one single story. If you can, please take the time to watch this powerful story today.

Now, getting back to hockey: Flyers’ rookie camp kicks off today, as Flyers prospects will begin to sharpen their skills before the Rookie Showcase in Allentown.

Camp also starts a day after the Flyers’ brass addressed the media.

Around the league, there is a major crossroads between one star play and his current team. Conflicting reports have led to quite an interesting development.

Additionally, an update is provided on one of the top unsigned RFAs, and another NHL superstar offers his own update on his contract situation. Get it all on the PhHN Daily.

Philadelphia Flyers

Philly Hockey Now: Keith Jones and Dan Hilferty took the podium to address the Flyers’ media on Wednesday morning in Voorhees. It was, well, what you’d expect. Patience was the theme on Wednesday. Check out what the Flyers’ higher-ups had to say.

In other news, rookie camp kicks off today! Unfortunately, I won’t be able to attend day one of camp due to a family matter. However, if you want to know who is attending camp for the Flyers, we have you covered!

NHL Rumors and News

Seravalli: Frank Seravalli reports that Minnesota Wild star winger Kirill Kaprizov has rejected a contract that would make him the highest-paid player in NHL history. The offer, believed to be for eight years, $128 million, would be the highest AAV and total dollars ever for an NHL player.

10k Takes: The 10,000 Takes Podcast (clip comes around the 5:30 mark) must’ve had the best luck of all time, because they had Wild GM Bill Guerin on the show yesterday. Of course, they hit on the pressing news. Guerin did not necessarily deny the report, but he certainly didn’t seem to be worried about it.

The Athletic ($): One more time on the Kaprizov situation! The team of Michael Russo and Joe Smith breaks down the crossroads in the Twin Cities. What does the report mean to Kaprizov and his future with the Wild?

New Jersey Hockey Now: The NHL season is right around the corner, and Luke Hughes remains without a contract. James Nichols delivers the latest on the contract situation in New Jersey.

Vegas Hockey Now: Jack Eichel was at the NHL Player Media Tour on Wednesday, so naturally, his contract situation came up in conversation. It does not seem like Eichel is going anywhere.
