In discussing what Leafs Nation can expect from him in his new role, team host Ryan Leslie shed light on a potential trade between the Leafs and Calgary Flames.

At the end of August, former Sportsnet reporter Ryan Leslie was named the Leafs’ new host in an effort to bring more Leafs content to fans, including in-depth player and coach interviews, pre and post-game activities, breaking news and behind-the-scenes footage.

On Thursday, the decade-long regional reporter for the Calgary Flames joined Nick Alberga and Jay Rosehill on ‘Leafs Morning Take’ to discuss his new role, what fans can expect and his transition from Calgary to Toronto. The discussion yielded an exciting discovery.

Leafs and Flames Discussing Trade?

In fact, in answering Alberga’s question about the potentially ‘overblown’ reports that there is a refusal to trade with their former GM, Leslie shared that Treliving and Flames GM Craig Conroy continue to discuss a potential trade.

“I know Brad Treliving and Craig Conroy are close and have regular dialogue,” Leslie said. “It just has to be the right fit — two parties coming to agreement. I don’t think there is anything preventing it. It’s hard to make deals. If the right fit were to be there, certainly there would an ability to make a deal.”

The Leafs are once again seen by many as a lock for the post-season while the Flames are considered a bubble team, but should the Flames fall out of contention, we could finally see the long-awaited trade between the two clubs come to fruition.
