Los Angeles Lakers eye Andrew Wiggins from Miami Heat after Luka Doncic trade

In a separate news, Luka Doncic was traded from the Dallas Mavericks to the Los Angeles Lakers earlier in the season. Now, they are trying to sign Andrew Wiggins of the Miami Heat. NBA correspondent Marc Stein of The Stein Line claimed that:“The sort of player who is likely to interest the Lakers? My read (if Miami were to make him available): Andrew Wiggins. Wiggins, 30, will earn $28.2 million this season and holds a $30.2 million player option for 2026-27. I wouldn’t have classified him as a potential purple-and-gold target before Doncic’s long-term future was secured, but things are different now… So my sense is that the Lakers would have interest if the Heat, in the coming weeks or months, decide to prioritize financial flexibility and look to reduce payroll.”While downplaying connections between Wiggins and the Los Angeles Lakers, Dan Woike of The Athletic stated that the Lakers are now willing to acquire a player with his skill set “provided the price is right.” He continued: “It’s unclear whether that kind of package could net Wiggins, who proved he could be a valuable piece on a championship team in 2022 with the Golden State Warriors,” the Lakers insider wrote. “It’s also unclear whether the Lakers believe Wiggins would be a significant upgrade over Rui Hachimura or whether the ideal situation would be to have him on the perimeter in addition to Hachimura.”In line with Woike’s statement, Stein claimed that the Lakers are prepared to make a strong bid for a two-way wing and would aim for the right deal. Also read: NBA Trade Rumors: Miami Heat face dilemma with Terry Rozier amid trade struggles and buyout talks
