2024-25 season
Cole Guttman had his best season as a professional in the Chicago Blackhawks organization. Scoring 23 goals and registering 34 assists for 57 points in 70 games for the Rockford IceHogs (AHL), the 26-year-old forward was also named an AHL all-star for the Central Division for his efforts. He didn’t appear in a single NHL game for the Blackhawks, unlike the previous two years.

Guttman led the IceHogs in goals, assists, and points, and was tied for the team lead in power-play goals with eight. He was a main catalyst in the club’s postseason berth and tallied five assists in seven playoff games. Rockford dispatched the Chicago Wolves with a sweep in a best-of-three opening round but fell short in overtime of Game Five in the following round in a best-of-five matchup against the Milwaukee Admirals.

2025-26 outlook
Guttman returns home by signing a two-year, two-way NHL contract. A former Jr. King to now playing for the organization he grew up watching. Signing Guttman is a move for the Ontario Reign, and that is where he will start. He played exclusively at center for Rockford last year, but we will see where Andrew Lord slots him in the lineup with a deep group at center projected to be on the roster.

Where he plays in the lineup won’t matter as he’ll get the opportunity to play in front of family and friends. The Kings bringing Guttman on board should be a big boost for the Reign at 5v5 and the power play. Welcome home, Cole!
