1. Sabres place development coach Adam Mair on leave after drunk-driving arrest
The Buffalo Sabres placed player developmental coach Adam Mair on administrative leave on Thursday after reports surfaced of the former NHL player being arrested on a drunk driving charge with three children in his car last week.
2. Buffalo Bills DT Ed Oliver will not play Sunday against New York Jets
Bills head coach Sean McDermott says Oliver got stepped on at practice Wednesday. He was seen wearing a protective boot and using a scooter to get around in the locker room afterward. Oliver was arguably their best player on defense in the win over the Ravens.
3. Millard Fillmore Surgery Center to close at end of month
The surgery center, which has been operating since 1989, will close Oct. 1. Kaleida Health said the decision, while difficult, had to do with recent changes to funding and reimbursement.
4. Portion of Route 219 to close Sept. 16 for crash response training
According to New York State Department of Transportation officials, the goal the training session is to improve multi-agency teamwork, raise awareness of traffic control tools and enhance safety for responders and highway workers.
