Even though Ivan Demidov stood out as the player of the game for the Canadiens, as evidenced by his three-point effort, Montreal dropped their first game of the Prospect Showdown, a 4-3 loss to the Jets. Demidov found instant chemistry alongside the always entertaining Florian Xhekaj. The Habs are right back at it on Sunday, and will face the Toronto Maple Leafs at 3 pm ET. Speaking of Demidov, he was ranked as the Calder Trophy front-runner by Scott Wheeler over at The Athletic. Back-to-back Calder Trophy winners would be a first in franchise history.

It’s impossible to deny that the playoff atmosphere in Montreal goes well beyond what you can expect from any other NHL arena. This wasn’t lost on Jacob Fowler.
Jacob Fowler on the Habs playoff atmosphere last season:
“I got to go to a couple of playoff games there and you don’t really get words to describe it…I think the first time you ever get to be in the (Bell Centre) with people in it, it’s something you’ll never forget.”

Fraser Minten and Dans Locmelis aren’t the type of young players that typically get fans or national pundits excited. They weren’t high draft picks, and they don’t usually make the dazzling offensive plays that go viral on social media. But what they do is everything well, and that’s what excites the Boston Bruins coaching staff. [Boston Bruins]
The NHL and NHLPA have officially come to an agreement that will reinstate Carter Hart and the other four players from the Hockey Canada sexual assault trial that concluded in July, however, Hart is unlikely to re-join his former team. [Philadelphia Flyers]
Although training cap for the Florida Panthers has not officially started, Jack Devine made sure he is getting off to a good start. Rookie camp and the subsequent Prospect Tournament is always a good way to grab notice and Devine did just that on Friday afternoon. [Florida Panthers]
