Coming off of a down year by his terms, Jason Robertson is set up to make a lot of headway this upcoming NHL season.  Scoring 80 points in 82 games seems to be considered the floor for Robertson.  It is what it is.  This upcoming season, the Dallas Stars could be primed for a special season coming from their left winger.

From a promising late season surge to no recent injuries, Robertson should be able to put up numbers like he did in 2022, and 2023. As long as he can keep his head in the game without fretting over international play, he should be good. Plus it’s a contract year for Robertson.

Injury free

After getting injured all the way back on April 16th, there are no reports about Robertson being hurt. Injuries slow people down obviously. Stars fans will be eager to see Robertson play at 100%. Everybody is a better version of themselves when they’re not hurt.

With the puck dropping on preseason this coming Saturday, September 20th, it’s a matter of time management and a little bit of luck that Robertson doesn’t suffer any setbacks. Nobody wants another end of season (or in this case preseason) injury problem.

Change for the better

A spark from new and recent personnel should bring out better play in Robertson. Starting with Dallas’ next head coach in a rehired Glen Gulutzan. Working with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl as an assistant coach for the Edmonton Oilers, imagine his impact on coaching Robertson. In particular on the power play.

Roberson is good on the man advantage too. Robertson has big size in front of the net, and a good shot to boot. Still at the age of only 26 there are many years to come where we will see the best of Robertson.

Contract year

When you enter the final year of your contract, there’s naturally more motivation for the player. In this case Robertson, will be in ‘prove it’s mode for his reputation, and his next contract with wanting to earn as much as possible.

Stars’ general manager Jim Nill wants Robertson on his team for about a decade going forward if a deal can be made. Nill understands the importance of having somebody who’s physically, and mentally as gifted as Robertson. Especially since these top six forwards of this caliber are easy to find.
