An analyst for the Minnesota Wild is revealing a list of teams that are now most likely to potentially acquire Kirill Kaprizov.
There could be a developing problem with the Minnesota Wild, as star forward Kirill Kaprizov has reportedly rejected a contract that would have made him the highest paid player in NHL history.
The reported offer was for $128 million and had an AAV (average annual value) of $16 million, though GM Bill Guerin denies that such an offer was made.
Per analyst Michael Russo, there are multiple teams that Kaprizov could potentially accept a trade to, and they include the Carolina Hurricanes, Chicago Blackhawks, Los Angeles Kings, and Tampa Bay Lightning.
Michael Russo: Re Kirill Kaprizov interest: Rangers, I know the Hurricanes are gonna be a team that’s very interested…the Blackhawks are; the usual suspects; LA, I think he’d love Tampa – Worst Seats in the House (9/12)
Since the reported contract offer rejection, the Wild have reportedly asked Kaprizov for a list of teams he’d accept a trade to.
Kaprizov is arguably the best player in Wild team history, and it would be nothing short of a devastating blow if they proved unable to re-sign him. It would also be a considerable black mark on the record of Guerin as team GM.
Bill Guerin pushed back on reports that they offered $128 million to Kirill Kaprisov
We can cut to the chase. Look, I don’t know where this stuff comes from. I know two things: That info didn’t come from us, and it didn’t come from Kirill’s agent. I don’t know where it came from.
-Bill Guerin
Last year, Kaprizov had 56 points (25G, 31A) in 41 games.
