According to a report, the San Jose Sharks are signing former New York Islanders first-round pick Oliver Wahlstrom.

Pagnotta also reports that if Wahlstrom doesn’t make the NHL squad, the Sharks will be signing him to an AHL deal.
Wahlstrom was drafted 18th overall in the 2018 NHL Draft by the Islanders. Knee Injuries and multiple head coaching changes derailed his Islanders career in 24-25.
In December of 2024, the Islanders waived the 24-year-old, and the Boston Bruins claimed him. In 16 games with the Bruins in the NHL, Wahlstrom scored one goal and one assist.

He also spent time in the AHL with the Providence Bruins last season, scoring nine goals and six assists in 19 games.
Wahlstrom went viral as a child, scoring an incredible lacrosse-style spinning goal while skating at TD Bank Arena in Boston.
The San Jose Sharks have yet to confirm the PTO signing of Wahlstrom. If the winger is in fact headed to Sharks training camp, he joins a very crowded group that will need to offload contracts to be compliant with NHL rules.
Top prospects Michael Misa, Sam Dickinson, and Quentin Musty’s ELC’s don’t count towards the 50, but will once they play 10 or more NHL games.
