Here we go! The Chicago Blackhawks dropped their 2025-26 training camp roster on Tuesday morning, which features 30 forwards, 17 defensemen, and six goaltenders.

The group of 53 players consists of many returning players, several high-profile prospects, and a couple of veteran offseason additions.

Let’s break it down.

SCHEDULE

Training camp begins on Thursday, September 18th, and runs through Sunday, October 5th, at Fifth Third Arena in Chicago. The Blackhawks also have six preseason games scheduled during training camp to prepare for their regular-season opener on October 7th against the Florida Panthers. As a reminder, all training camp practices at Fifth Third Arena are free and available to the public.

QUICK TAKEAWAYS

It’s encouraging to see Wyatt Kaiser listed on the roster, despite not having signed a new contract with the Blackhawks yet. Both parties reportedly want to finalize this before camp begins on Thursday, so I still expect a deal to be announced soon.

Another noteworthy defenseman listed on the roster is Matt Grzelcyk, who reportedly signed a professional tryout contract (PTO) with the Blackhawks on Tuesday. Considering the depth the Blackhawks already have on their blue line, this was an interesting addition.

The only two injured roster invites are 2024 sixth-round pick Ty Henry and goaltender Laurent Brossoit. Henry injured his left ankle while scrimmaging during rookie camp last Thursday, forcing him to miss the Tom Kurvers Prospect Showcase over the weekend. Brossoit has been M.I.A. for most of his time with the Blackhawks while recovering from a knee injury. Doesn’t look like that’s going to change anytime soon.
