Whole team effort today and nice to take home the win.
Did he just play in a golf tournament or did he just come off the ice after a regular season game?
Why Auston Matthews’ Comments Matter
It’s that type of leadership and attention to his teammates that made him the right choice to be the captain last season over potentially Mitch Marner; a player who seems to have been completely forgotten about and by proxy bringing the team closer.
This season is certainly going to be a test for Matthews without his old running mate, and coming off a rough year filled with injuries he should be motivated and healthy; a dangerous combination.
Last season, Matthews put up 78 points in 67 games (33 goals, 45 assists) but put up some of his worst scoring numbers and was just coming off a historic 69-goal campaign.
If there is one thing to look forward to this season, it’s that the Toronto Maple Leafs are as close as ever it seems, and that can only mean good things going forward for a group that is going to depend heavily on each other to succeed.
