The Jakub Vrana SHL signing was greeted with excitement by Linkoping fans. But two games into the former Red Wings player’s return to the SHL he’s already been benched.

Aftonbladt reported Vrana was “anonymous” in Linkoping’s loss to Frolunda in its home opener on Saturday and then reported that Vrana was benched at times in a 5-2 loss to Timra.

“We saw that there were too many who stood too still,” Linkoping coach Mikael “Musse” Håkansson said about his team’s performance in the latter game.

Based on Aftonbladt’s report, Vrana could have been among those standing “too still.” He has no points in his first two games playing for a team he last played for in 2014-15.

Red Wings In Case You Missed It

Former Red Wings player Slava Kozlov is back coaching Dynamo Moscow in the KHL.

Dimitri Buchelnikov finally earned his first point (in his fifth game) for CSKA. He put up a goal and an assist and ex-Red Wing Daniel Sprong notched a hat trick.

Shai Buium’s offensive knack was on display in two-game prospect series against the Dallas Stars.
