Tampa Bay Lightning general manager Julien BriseBois announced that forward Nick Paul will be out until early November after having surgery last week.

Paul had surgery to address an upper-body injury.

Paul, 30, had 22 goals and 41 points in 76 games last season with the Lightning, his fourth with the team.

A fourth-round pick (101st overall) by Dallas in 2013, he was traded to the Ottawa Senators in July of 2014 in the deal that sent Jason Spezza to the Stars.

He made his NHL debut with Ottawa on Feb. 16, 2016 against the Buffalo Sabres. He spent seven seasons in the Senators organization before being dealt to Tampa Bay in 2022.

He is in the fourth season of a seven-year, $22.05 million contract with an AAV of $3.15 million.

Internationally, Paul helped Canada win gold medals at the 2015 World Juniors and 2021 World Championships.

In 486 career NHL games, the Mississauga, Ont., native has 97 goals and 199 points split between the Senators and Lightning.
