Vancouver Canucks Fans Share Mixed Feelings About J.T. Miller Being Named New York Rangers Captain

Vancouver Canucks fans shared mixed feelings on social media over the 24 hours regarding the New York Rangers’ decision to appoint J.T. Miller as their new captain.Despite the Rangers missing out on the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Miller had a great return to The Big Apple, putting up 35 points (13 goals, 22 assists) in 32 games and just before New York opened up training camp, the organization decided to name him captain, the 29th in franchise history.

Since his arrival last season, J.T. immediately became a leader for our group and exemplifies how we want to conduct ourselves both on and off the ice. Vancouver Canucks share mixed feelings about J.T. Miller being named captain in New York
Following Tuesday’s announcement by the Rangers, fans from both New York and the Vancouver Canucks took to social media to share how they felt about the news.
Some fans didn’t believe that Miller was the right choice for the Rangers, who will have Vincent Trochek, Artemi Panarin, Mika Zibanejad and Adam Fox also part of their leadership group for their Centennial season.
“Absolutely disgusted. Zero character and reflects poorly on the Rangers” @StewartGreen81 said.

JT is now the enemy, the same way Pavel, Trevor, Nazzy and every other ex Canuck becomes when they get moved.” @robertojames192 said.
“I loved JT but he sabotaged his and the Canucks success last year. He could have been a leader but he chose to be a menace. His tendency to pounce on his own teammates’ vulnerability is something he needs to ditch if he wants to be an effective captain.” @White3D64197 said.
On the other side, there were quite a few Vancouver Canucks fans that were happy and excited for the opportunity J.T. Miller by the New York Rangers.
“Happy for him. Guys a warrior. NYR better team for it” @canux10 said.
“Heartbeat of the team kind of guy. Excellent choice. Just need to be able to reign him in once in a while.” @NiksterPen said.
“It’s awesome. JT is a flawed player at times, but an incredible 100 point leader who will put his team on his back. He’s a warrior.

While Miller might have had a tough exit from Vancouver given the circumstances, there’s no doubt that fans will remember that he always gave his full effort night in, night out, finishing his time with the Canucks with 437 points in 404 games.
