The Blackhawks are able to re-sign Wyatt Kaiser for the next two seasons at the training camp buzzer-beating deal

At long last, Wyatt Kaiser finally signed a contract to rejoin the Blackhawks for this upcoming season, at a cap hit of $1.7 million per year. The contract, which was signed on September 17th, will keep Kaiser in Chicago for the next two seasons, until the 2027-28 offseason. This deal comes after a 4-month standoff. between the young defenseman and the Blackhawks management and brass.

The Player:

The Minnesota native was a pleasant surprise for Chicago fans in the second half of the season. Kaiser split time between both the Rockford Icehogs and the Chicago Blackhawks this season. In 57 games in the NHL, Wyatt was able to record 4G and 4A, 7 of these points coming from the January 3rd game and on. OviClapBomb on Twitter reported the news that Kaiser was to sign the contract today, and he is expected to play alongside budding defenseman Ayrtom Levshunov this season

The Cowboy Round-Up

After months of playing the waiting game, Kyle Davidson and Wyatt Kaiser’s camp finally reached an agreement on a contract. With this being a bridge deal at a relatively cheap price with the rising cap over the next two seasons, Kaiser will use this contract as film for other suitors or to cement himself in the Blackhawks’ young future. For the Blackhawks, I give the grade of B, as Wyatt Kaiser had no leverage but walked out with a sizable dollar amount. However, the short term gives the Hawks flexibility to keep or move on.
