Utah Mammoth Media Day
Bill Armstrong shares that Connor Ingram will not attend training club as both sides agree to part ways

Beginning with the biggest storyline of the day, General Manager Bill Armstrong shared that the club and Connor Ingram have agreed to mutually part ways as the seasoned goaltender now seeks a new home.

BREAKING: Connor Ingram will NOT attend training camp as he and the team work to find him a new home.

Armstrong says they plan to eventually place him on waivers.

After recently clearing the NHLPA Player Assistance Program in August, the two sides came to the conclusion that it would be best for Ingram to skip training camp as he prepares to play for a new organization.

“We both had a mutual agreement. We said, hey listen, we have our goaltenders, it’s probably best for him not to come to camp…at some point in time we’ll put him on waivers,” Armstrong explained.

“Through that process, he will either get a chance to play for another NHL team, or he will go through the AHL and resume his play,” Armstrong added.

To add some clarification, this was not a situation where the club gave up on him.

Ingram has requested a change of scenery, and this is the best path forward.

Notably, the club is thrilled for Ingram to be in a better place and wish him the best along his journey.

“We’re so excited for him in his path to recovery,” Armstrong said. “That’s the biggest thing. We always look at the player and the person. It’s incredible to know that he’s back ready to play.”

While some may speculate that the Mammoth are clearing space to sign Carter Hart, that is not the case as sources inside the organization have indicated that they have zero interest in adding Hart to the roster.

Chris Armstrong sheds light on the availability of Mammoth sweaters to be purchased

As the club steps into year two with new branding and a fresh set of sweaters, President of Hockey Operations Chris Armstrong established a timeline for when fans will be able to purchase the new jerseys.

Chris Armstrong said that new Mammoth jerseys will be available before the season and the plan is to have them for their preseason home games.

According to Armstrong, the plan is to have them available for the Mammoth’s preseason home games, and if not then, at least by the regular season home opener.

Andre Tourigny provides a quick injury update heading into training camp

Before training camp begins on Thursday, Utah’s head coach outlined a few notable injuries that will keep several skaters sidelined.

According to Tourigny, forward Liam O’Brien is week-to-week with a lower body injury.

Additionally, Anson Thornton, Juuso Valimaki, Caleb Desnoyers & Terrell Goldsmith are also out due to injury.

Lawson Crouse is ready to bounce back for the Utah Mammoth

2025-26 needs to be a bounce back season for Lawson Crouse and he’s well aware of that.

During his nine years in the NHL, last season was one of his worst in terms of offensive production as he experienced his lowest numbers since 2020 with only 12 goals and six assists.

According to Crouse, he learned a lot from his struggles last season and is ready to do whatever it takes to bounce back.

“Learning from it…doing whatever you can, whatever it takes to not let it happen again,” Crouse explained.

“The mental side of the game is another thing that I needed to work on a lot. I’m the hardest person on myself and sometimes that works in the opposite direction. The biggest step for me was recognizing that and then learning…it feels good coming into a fresh start, and I can’t wait to get going here, showing everyone what I am truly capable of.”

Guenther-McBain household in shambles?

All in good fun, Dylan Guenther shared that he and Jack McBain are officially no longer roommates.

Following a collection of fun stories and trips to Costco last season, Guenther decided to move out on his own, and according to him, McBain misses his former roommate a little more than Guenther does.

“I’m not living with Bainer anymore. It feels like a divorce,” Guenther joked.

“We still hang out. He’s been kind of texting me weird things lately. He sends me pics of his new shoes. I’m like, ‘I don’t want to see your shoes.’”

Rest assured, the two still hang out, but they are no longer living together.

Logan Cooley comments on Mammoth contract negotiations

Heading into the 2025-26 season, 21-year-old forward Logan Cooley is now eligible for his first extension as his entry level deal is set to expire at the end of the year.

During media day, Cooley was able to address the subject, stating that he’ll just let his agents handle extension talks as he focuses on dominating the upcoming season.

“For me, it’s all about just this season. Helping this team get to the playoffs. Gearing up for a season that I want to dominate,” Cooley explained.

“Leaving that to the agents. But obviously, again, I love it here.”

For anyone worrying that a deal isn’t in place yet, stop.

It’ll get done.

Cooley loves playing in Utah, is destined to become a franchise superstar and extending him is arguably the highest priority for the front office in terms of the roster.

But with the salary cap continuing to increase, agents and NHL teams are having to navigate uncharted territory.

Luckily, Cooley can’t say enough good things about Utah and will be in a Mammoth sweater for years to come.

“I love it here…it’s definitely the most fun time I’ve had playing hockey. It’s just such a joy coming to the rink every day,” Cooley added.

“The facilities, the guys we have on this team…the fans too…I can’t wait to see the Delta Center.”

JJ Peterka is ready to put on a show in Utah

Although his interview was short, JJ Peterka was very clear about his intentions in Utah.

After registering 68 points with the Buffalo Sabres last season before being traded to the Mammoth, Peterka is ready to utilize his skills to build on that number and help Utah reach the playoffs.

“Be excited. I’m an exciting player to watch with a lot of speed,” Peterka said with confidence.

“Don’t look away. Be excited for some action.”

What’s next for the Utah Mammoth?

Training camp is set to begin on September 17 and will run through October 4.

The Mammoth’s first preseason game will be a split-squad matchup on September 21 against the Colorado Avalanche.

The first game will be at 2:30 pm MT while the second puck will drop at 6:30 pm MT.

Both games will be available on Mammoth+.
