Top Free Agent Reportedly Refuses to Sign in Edmonton, Looking for Another Team

Jack Roslovic remains the NHL’s top free agent, and according to a report, he turned down an offer from the Edmonton Oilers earlier this summer.
There are a few intriguing names out there remaining in free agency this off-season, but none more so than Jack Roslovic, who is coming off a very solid season with the Carolina Hurricanes.
He’s drawn some interest from Vancouver, Edmonton and Toronto among others, but as of right now, the 28-year old remains unsigned with training camps around the NHL now officially underway.
Roslovic turns down an offer from the Oilers
Now, we know one key reason why he remains a free agent, as Roslovic reportedly turned down an offer from the Oilers before switching agents, according to The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun.
“I do believe there was an offer from the Edmonton Oilers at some point, but Roslovic, 28, turned it down. He has since switched agents. He’s now with Justin Duberman.
It’s likely that the offer was on a one-year deal, but according to LeBrun, Roslovic wants more than one-year on his next contract, something that may be difficult to find with most rosters already filled out.
“Roslovic made $2.8 million on a one-year deal in Carolina last season. Word is he’d like to get term on his next deal – more than one year. That may not be easy to do this late into things, with teams mostly filled out.”
There was even speculation earlier this off-season that Roslovic would return to Carolina in free agency, but unfortunately for the talented 28-year old, there’s been very little movement on that front as of late.
Ultimately, Roslovic was very productive a year ago, but given that he remains unsigned, he may need to take another one-year deal to produce again and push for a longer deal next off-season.
