Kirill Kaprizov Trade Talks Picking Up as Minnesota Wild Face Ultimatum

The Minnesota Wild have reportedly asked for a list of teams that Kirill Kaprizov would accept a trade to, and per analyst Darren Dreger, both sides could eventually reach that point.
Tensions are growing in Minnesota as forward Kirill Kaprizov and general manager Bill Guerin appear to be in a contract standoff with no resolution in sight.
Kaprizov is coming into the last year of his current contract and isn’t signed beyond 2026, and could potentially hit free agency next summer if a deal isn’t worked out. He’s also allegedly been asked for a trade list amidst the contract drama.
Per NHL analyst Darren Dreger on the First Up podcast, he leaves the door open to a potential trade of Kaprizov because of the lack of progress on a new deal.Maybe he’s looking around the hockey world….it’s his agent’s job to start getting him options of what the landscape is going to look like when he becomes an available player.
What do you do with a piece like that if he’s not willing to sign off on what your best (offer) is? And that’s where it could get very interesting. Guerin and the Wild don’t want it to get to that place, but I’m starting to wonder if it does just based on the fact that both sides are saying all the right things, but they can’t seem to find that compromise, that middle ground, to get this deal done.

Last year, Kaprizov missed multiple games but still had 56 points (25G, 31A) in 41 games.
Wild GM Bill Guerin denied reports of a historic offer to Kaprizov
Before the news of the Wild reportedly asking Kaprizov for a list of teams he’d be willing to accept a trade to, a report surfaced from analyst Frank Seravalli that Kaprizov had rejected a historic offer.
The offer was reportedly with a $16 million AAV (average annual value), which would have been the highest of any player in NHL history.
Kaprizov can already realistically hold a claim to the title of best forward in Wild history, and it would be a devastating loss if he were to be traded or leave in free agency.
