The Vancouver Canucks have officially agreed to terms on a three-year, entry-level contract with a member of their 2025 draft class on Monday afternoon.
Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin did an excellent job adding to the team’s prospect pool at the 2025 NHL Entry Draft, especially on Day 2 where the team selected five players, including goaltender Aleksei Medvedev, who signed his entry-level contract back in July.Medvedev, along with first round pick Braeden Cootes, were the only two players signed from Vancouver’s 2025 draft class until Monday afternoon following an announcement from the club.

“Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the club has agreed to terms with forwards Riley Patterson and Gabriel Chiarot on three-year, entry-level contracts.” the club said.
General Manager Patrik Allvin commented on the signing of Gabriel Chiarot, saying that club has been impressed with the way he plays and has a really good work ethic, which will help him in a big way when he makes the jump to professional hockey in the years to come.
“Over the past couple of weeks, we have been impressed by a number of our young players at both the showcase in Seattle and at Training Camp in Penticton. We are happy to sign two of them, Riley Patterson and Gabriel Chiarot. Riley is a right-shot centre prospect who has made strides working with our development group the past couple years, while Gabriel has good drive, work ethic, and tenacity, and also has a nose for the net.” Allvin said.
Chiarot, the cousin of current NHL defenseman Ben Chiarot, took a big step forward in his development during his draft year in the OHL, going from five goals and ten points in 2023-24 to 21 goals and 35 points during the 2024-25 campaign. The Hamilton, Ontario native was among nine players cut by the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday as the team trimmed their training camp roster to 50.With the 19-year-old hoping to lead the Brampton Steelheads back to the OHL Playoffs, it’ll certainly be a tough task after his team lost forward Porter Martone and goaltender Jack Ivankovic to the NCAA.
Chiarot is set to make his season debut for the Brampton Steelheads on Friday against Aleksei Medevdev and the defending champions, the London Knights.
