Pittsburgh Penguins forward Robby Fabbri, who is on a PTO, could hear from the Department of Player Safety following his hit on Ivan Demidov in tonight’s exhibition game at Bell Centre against the Montreal Canadiens.
Pittsburgh Penguins forward Robby Fabbri could soon be hearing from the NHL Department of Player Safety, which could potentially hamper his chances of getting a roster spot.
Fabbri, who is with the Penguins on a PTO after having played last year with the Anaheim Ducks, threw a controversial hit up high to Canadiens rookie Ivan Demidov during tonight’s exhibition game at Bell Centre. He was then immediately confronted by Josh Anderson, who was later sent to the penalty box.
Fabbri wasn’t penalized on the play, but he could potentially be hearing about his actions tomorrow if the NHL DPS reviews the footage.
Robby Fabbri may be facing his last chance in the NHL
After he was traded from the Detroit Red Wings last summer to the Ducks, he barely played in half the year, missing a good chunk of hit because of more injuries.
Fabbri, who has undergone numerous surgeries in his career, wants to show that he’s still an NHL player.
«I’m excited to be here with this organization and to prove to these guys that I’m still an NHL player, which I know I am. That’s just where I’m at right now.
Originally taken by the Blues with the 21st overall pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, Fabbri has 216 points (106G, 110A) in 442 career NHL games.
He also won the Stanley Cup with the Blues in 2019.
