Here we go! The Chicago Blackhawks begin preseason action on Tuesday night against their old-time rival Detroit Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena. Can I get a “DE-TROIT SUCKS!”, anyone?
The Blackhawks’ first of six preseason games comes only 14 days before the 2025-26 regular season opens against the two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers. Time to get to work!
While the stats or final result of the game won’t go into the record books, it’s still the first action for new head coach Jeff Blashill. It’s only fitting that his first (unofficial) game behind the Blackhawks’ bench comes against the team he coached for seven years from 2015 to 2022. Over the first five days of training camp, Blashill has quickly established a new standard and wasted no time in putting his players to work. It’s still been less than a week since camp started, but Blashill has already set the tone for how he wants his team to play.
After all the conditioning drills, transition work, and fast-paced practices in recent days, it’s finally time to see how Blashill runs things in a game-like setting.
Here’s everything to note before the puck drops tonight in Detroit at 6 p.m. CT.
