Something strange is brewing in Tampa, Florida.
Superstar goaltender Andrei Vasilevsky has missed four straight days of practice for the Tampa Bay Lightning with what head coach Jon Cooper is calling “a player management issue.”
NHL insider Chris Johnston reports that there’s no indication from the team on what exactly is happening with Vasilevsky and that we don’t know when we’ll see the goaltender return to action.
From Johnston on TSN’s Insider Trading segment today:
“Missed the scrimmage, missed 4 straight days now at practice and there is not a whole lot of clarity as to what is going on. Jon Cooper did tell reporters that he is dealing with a player management issue, that he is receiving some treatment, nothing beyond that.”
That’s… that’s concerning.
Again, if Vasilevsky is out of the lineup for any significant amount of time it could be devastating to the Lightning’s season.
