Here’s how to find all of the Metropolitan Division futures that are available to bettors on DraftKings Sportsbook for the 2025 NHL season!

Much like the Atlantic Division, the Metropolitan Division projects to be highly competitive, with as many as six playoff-worthy squads looking to punch their tickets into the postseason. The Hurricanes have been a regular-season powerhouse for nearly a decade and are favorites at +130 to win the Metropolitan Division, with the Devils (+280) and Capitals (+500) rounding out the top three.

As part of our NHL 2025 Season Preview series, let’s take a look at the rest of the odds for the remaining five Metropolitan Division teams, as well as standout futures and regular season point totals.

Metropolitan Division Winner Odds

Carolina Hurricanes to Win the Metropolitan Division (+130)

One could argue that no team in the NHL is deeper than the Hurricanes. Plus, they just added even more to their arsenal this offseason by signing Nikolaj Ehlers and trading for K’Andre Miller, further bolstering both their top six and top four. Carolina’s goaltending could be questionable, given that Frederik Andersen is both aging and injury-prone, but Pyotr Kochetkov is only 25 years old and could break out after posting 2.60 GAA last season.

Carolina opened at +175 to win the division and has already fallen to +130, with that play seeing 57% of handle and 72% of the bets made in this market on DraftKings Sportsbook. The Capitals won it last season, and teams like the Devils and Rangers are more than capable of strong campaigns. But, this Hurricanes squad finds regular season success often, having totaled at least 111 points in three of the past four seasons.

Metropolitan Division Stats to Know Ahead of 2025 NHL Season

It’s no surprise to see the Penguins as of one of the top three teams to the over in this division. It will likely be the same case again, and targeting the over on Penguins games may be a good call throughout the season. Sidney Crosby still exists, which should provide Pittsburgh with enough offensive juice to score some goals, but its goaltending situation figures to be among the worst in the NHL. Both Tristan Jarry and Arturs Silovs had rough 2024 campaigns and likely won’t receive much help from the defensive pairings in front of them.

It’s very possible that the Penguins tank this season, too, to ensure their chances of securing the No. 1 overall pick to have a shot at selecting expected generational talent Gavin McKenna. If targeting the over in their games this season feels safe, attacking the Puck Line may also be worth your while. There aren’t going to be many games where Pittsburgh dominates its opponents and wins by at least two goals. But, there will likely be plenty of games where the Penguins get run out of the building due to their lack of offensive firepower and poor goaltending.

Pittsburgh Penguins O/U 78.5 Regular Season Points

Odds: Over (-110), Under (-120)

New York Rangers OVER 95.5 Regular Season Points (+105)

It’s hard to pass up plus-odds and what should be a rejuvenated Rangers squad that is running it back with virtually the same roster under new head coach Mike Sullivan. Igor Shesterkin posted his worst season of his career in 2024, allowing 2.86 goals per game and posting a .905 save percentage, but he’s still among the elite and is capable of a bounce-back season. New York finished fifth in the division with just 86 points, its lowest mark since 2022, and should receive a nice coaching boost from Sullivan, who is a proven winner that should get the most out of the Rangers’ core and depth.

Columbus Blue Jackets OVER 84.5 Regular Season Points (-125)

Columbus nearly secured the final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference last season but ultimately came up short to the Canadiens. While the Blue Jackets don’t have many flashy players, they’re still a deep squad that is solid at all levels of the ice. The goaltending from can be suspect from Elvis Merzlikins occasionally, but 24-year-old Jet Greaves flashed in limited action last season and could be the boost that Columbus needs to get over the hump. Maybe last season was a fluke, and the Blue Jackets’ lack of flashy pieces will hurt them, but 97% of the money and 91% of the bets on DraftKings Sportsbook have been placed on the over thus far.

To Make the Playoffs?

Carolina Hurricanes – Yes (-1200), No (+700)

New Jersey Devils – Yes (-350), No (+270)

Washington Capitals – Yes (-250), No (+190)

New York Rangers – Yes (-200), No (+160)

New York Islanders – Yes (+240), No (-320)

Columbus Blue Jackets – Yes (+220), No (-300)

Philadelphia Flyers – Yes (+260), No (-350)

Pittsburgh Penguins – Yes (+600), No (-1000)

Columbus Blue Jackets to Make the Playoffs (+220)

As I alluded to above, Columbus is a sneaky Eastern Conference team that could make the playoffs. 92% of the money thrown down on this market has already come in on the Blue Jackets making the playoffs, too, suggesting that I may be onto something, huh? It’s worth noting that 61% of the bets made in this market thus far lie with them missing the playoffs, which is for good reason. The Eastern Conference is going to come down to the wire for the final few playoff spots and Columbus is among the top of that list of teams that could make it. This same team won its final six games to try to secure the final wild card spot and produced multiple winning streaks throughout the season. If they can find more consistent goaltending, they’re in good shape to make the postseason for the first time since 2020.
