Brandon Carlo was a huge deadline acquisition by Toronto in 2025, but now, they’re already considering trading the veteran blue liner.
Last season, the Toronto Maple Leafs had a busy trade deadline, and while they pushed the Florida Panthers to the limit, they once again came up short in their pursuit for a Stanley Cup.
Now, they head into a new season in unfamiliar territory with the ‘Core Four’ no longer together, but with the depth they’ve build up, there’s plenty of optimism that this team could be a very competitive one moving forward.
Brandon Carlo on the trade block?
That doesn’t mean that General Manager Brad Treliving is done making moves however, as it has been revealed the team are eyeing several moves ahead of the regular season.
According to Chris Johnston on the Leaf Report, Brandon Carlo could be a name the team consider moving, despite just acquiring him from the Bruins at the 2025 trade deadline.
They had at least thought of what would a world look like if they traded him; they were open to imagining what that would look like
It’s unclear exactly why the team are looking to move the veteran blue liner, as he brings them solid depth at a time when it’s desperately needed, and with a logjam up front, many expect the next move in Toronto to be a forward being moved out.
However, if they don’t think Carlo elevates this team to Stanley Cup contender as they aspire to be, don’t be surprised to see a move made as Toronto look to solidify this roster ahead of what could be a massive regular season ahead.
