DETROIT, Mich. (WILX) – On September 25, 1926, a group of Detroit businessmen purchased the Victoria Cougars hockey club, moving them to Detroit.
That team, originally called the Detroit Cougars, would eventually be renamed the Red Wings.
The Red Wings would go on to become one of the most storied franchises in the NHL, bringing multiple Stanley Cups to Hockeytown.
