An update was issued last night after Vancouver Canucks forward Nils Hoglander was forced to leave Wednesday’s preseason game in Abbotsford against Calgary.Vancouver got off to a strong start, with Nils Hoglander scoring on the power play a little over five minutes into the opening frame before Filip Chytil doubled the Canucks’ lead two minutes later, however the Swedish forward saw his night end early due to an injury.

“Forward Nils Höglander will not return to tonight’s game.” the Canucks said on X.

Update issued on Vancouver Canucks’ Nils Hoglander after leaving Wednesday’s game

Hoglander’s last shift of the game came early on in the second period, with Lachlan Irvine of Canucks Army noticing that the 24-year-old was hit in by Calgary Flames prospect Etienne Morin and then again a short while later by Daniil Miromanov, neither of which looked to be concerning at the time.

“From what I can tell this was Nils Höglander’s last shift. Gets hit by Etienne Morin in the neutral zone, then again by Daniil Miromanov behind the play at the end. #Canucks” Irvine said.

TSN’s Farhan Lalji reported after the game that Nils Hoglander was seen wearing a walking boot, with Adam Foote unsure of the severity of the injury as the Swede is set to be evaluated further on Thursday back in Vancouver.

“Nils Höglander was seen leaving the rink with a walking boot. Foote was asked about him post game and was non-committal on severity or time line. Said he would be reevaluated in the next day.” Lalji said.

“Hopefully it’s not going to be too much.” Foote told reporters.

We’ll have to wait and see how Nils Hoglander feels and recovers or the next week or so, but everyone here at Canucks Daily are hoping that he’ll be good to go for their first game of the 2025-26 season on Thursday, October 9th.
