Colorado Avalanche defenseman Brent Burns (undisclosed) took part fully in Tuesday’s practice, Brennan Vogt of Hockey Mountain High reports. The veteran skipped practice on Saturday and sat out both of the team’s preseason games against the Utah Mammoth on Sunday. Burns, who turned 40 in March, is gearing up for his 22nd NHL season. Although he’s past his prime, Burns still contributed well with the Carolina Hurricanes last season, earning 29 points (six goals, 23 assists) and blocking 98 shots in 82 games. Impressively, Burns holds the fourth-longest ironman streak in NHL history, with 925 consecutive regular-season appearances. He hasn’t missed a game since November 2013.–Taavi Pailk
